Announcements and Information for Paddlers
Here, you will find information about paddling-related activities and events. If you have paddling-related announcements you would like us to post, send them to our editor. All postings are free, and provided in service to the world-wide paddling community. We welcome announcements of major exhibitions and instructional classes, but will not post product advertisements or materials irrelevant to paddling.

Volunteers Needed For Beach Sweep
October 12-14, 2007; Lake Moultrie, Berkeley County, SC
We are looking for volunteers to help cleanup the beaches and islands located on Lake Moultrie from 9 a.m. to Noon on September 15, 2007. We are looking for team leaders for each identified cleanup site, volunteers with boats, kayaks, and canoes. We will be providing a limited number of canoes and kayaks for volunteers without boats.
Volunteers who choose will be allowed to camp free at the Boy Scout Camp located on Lake Moultrie located about five miles from Moncks Corner. They have restrooms & showers, but only cold water. All three meals will be provided free on Saturday, volunteers may arrive and camp on Friday if needed. We plan to provide live music, guest speakers & guided paddle trips on several of our blueways trails on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday. Beach Sweep/River Sweep—organized by S.C. Sea Grant Consortium in partnership with S.C. Department of Natural Resources—is the largest one-day litter cleanup of South Carolina’s beaches and waterways. Last year, nearly 3,000 South Carolinians from the mountains, through the midlands, to the coast collected over 11 tons of trash from our waterways.
